A Disappointing Experience with TruGreen's Indian Trail Branch My wife and I purchased our home in September 2023, a place where we plan to raise our family. The previous owner had meticulously cared for the lawn, leaving us with a lush, green fescue carpet. They had used a premium lawn care service that did excellent work, but it was quite expensive—an expense we weren’t prepared to carry after just moving. When TruGreen reached out with a quote, their pricing was nearly half of the incumbent provider’s, promising the same level of service. Being inexperienced in high-grade lawn care beyond basic mowing and trimming, and eager to save money, we decided to go with TruGreen. They assured us that all we needed to do was water, mow, and trim—they would handle the rest. The previous provider finished out 2023, and TruGreen began servicing our lawn in March 2024. Over the next six months, our once-beautiful lawn transformed into a wasteland of weeds and brown patches. Initial Concerns Ignored In late May, I noticed browning and weed accumulation and began calling TruGreen’s customer service. Their representatives were polite and eager to "make it right," offering free services under the "TruGreen Guarantee." However, there seemed to be a disconnect between the support center and the local branch. It took several follow-ups for the promised service to finally occur in early June. When I attempted to speak with the technicians during their visits, they were unable to provide detailed insights or strategies for improving the lawn. Busy with family activities over the summer, I trusted TruGreen to address the issues during their monthly visits—a mistake, as the lawn’s condition continued to deteriorate. Poor Communication and Delayed Action By late August, large dead spots and excessive weed growth covered the lawn. After multiple complaints, I finally connected with the service manager, Farentino, who sent their sales rep, Ben, instead of meeting with me personally. Ben acknowledged the poor service, noting that technicians likely hadn’t applied treatments thoroughly. He offered a complimentary army worm treatment and promised to oversee improvements. While I appreciated his efforts, I couldn’t understand why it took months of complaints to address these issues. Despite Ben’s assurances and the free treatment, I never heard from him again after this visit, even after repeated calls and texts. Aeration Disaster In October, after further follow-ups, TruGreen performed an aeration service while I was at work. When I returned home, the results were shocking. The technician had driven the aerator in random patterns, leaving many areas untouched and others with large, frisbee-sized holes. It was clear that no care had been taken during the service. I photographed the damage and shared it with Farentino, who offered to send the technician back. By this point, my wife and I had completely lost trust in TruGreen and declined the offer. I requested a full refund for the aeration, as I would need to hire another provider to redo the service and fix the damage. Farentino explained that he couldn’t issue refunds and said I needed to speak with the general manager, Stephen Robertson. Despite multiple requests through customer support and direct follow-ups, the GM never called me back. After a couple of weeks, I received a partial credit offer through an administrative staff member who apologized for the GM’s lack of response. Feeling there was no point in waiting for further resolution, I accepted the partial refund and terminated all services with TruGreen. Final Thoughts It has now been a month, and I still haven’t heard from Stephen Robertson. TruGreen’s failure to deliver on their promises, their poor communication, and their lack of accountability have been deeply disappointing. What began as an exciting opportunity to maintain a beautiful lawn turned into a costly and frustrating experience. I would not recommend TruGreen, particularly the Indian Trail branch, to anyone seeking reliable lawn care.
I paid TruGreen to do two things: 1. Keep my grass green 2. Kill the weeds in my yard They almost did the job. All of my grass is dead and my weeds are flourishing. The technician sprayed something that killed both my yard and parts of my neighbor's yard. They have not been able to kill any of the weeds in my yard or my neighbor's, even after they accidently nuked my yard. I've noticed more weeds after using them. I had some other experts look at my yard, it will take 2-3 seasons to get my yard back to where it was. This was the first year I used TruGreen, and they have already all this damage to my yard. Negative experiences all around. If you value a good looking yard, look elsewhere.
I have been with true green 4 years , first 3 years in Huntersville agent service in Huntersville was great, I never make any call to them. I was moved to Harrisburg last year agent chance to Indian Trail agent service . It’s badly to more worse . Have call back many time to resevice !! After Mosquito spay fews days still like nothing ! And last 5 days they come service my yard for weeds , and now all grass most get killed !! What s going on with them? Them employees have been training enough yet? Anything wrong with chemicals to it?? I’m not usually reviews , but I should for sone one have to becafully which company or agency we can trust! And I will post some of pictures of my yard before trues green service , remember those bautful pictures that from before , not after
Line has been spread , weed and feed has been sprayed so all we can do now is wait and see the results. Both the technician that came out were very nice to work with.
My parents have been with TruGreen for years only for us to come home from vacation this summer to find our grass DEAD. Our neighbors used TruGreen as well and you can see in the middle picture their grass is dead as well. You can also see at the end the other neighbors have green grass split right down the middle of our dead grass… WILL BE CHANGING COMPANIES. Our neighbors already have changed.
I have used TruGreen for 2 years for lawn maintenance. They keep up with my regular lawn fertilizing and aerating/overseed. Jeremiah M is fantastic!
